If you haven’t heard of Johnny Chung Lee, you must be under a rock. Johnny is a Ph.D. student who focuses on Human-Computer Interaction. Be sure to check out his webpage here.
To make things short, Johnny has made several projects anyone can make in their own home with the appropriate resources and it isn’t costly. His most known projects have been the things he has done with Wii Remotes. I’ll put the videos since he explains what he is doing with them.

Johnny Lee also has made other project such as the SteadyCam which provides a cheap alternative for buying an expensive device for holding your camera up. This can be viewed here.
