How to make a mobile website with iWebKit

iWebkit allows to create a ultra light and fast loading mobile website that is compatible with most smart phones. The best thing about it, is that it requires no knowledge of HTML.

So how does it work? Simply download the iWebkit and take a look at the Userguide.pdf and browse the demo provided in the iWebKit Demo folder. The only skill you’ll really need for creating your mobile website is copying and pasting. If you don’t believe me, check it out. The simplicity comes from the demo that provides sample pages that allows you to simply copy and paste the code and edit to your liking.

You can also go further and create a webapp for iOS devices. A webapp is simply a mobile website that can be bookmarked onto your homescreen of your iOS device. It will already have an icon and even allows you the ability to introduce a splash screen. If you are interested, check out our beta version of the Talk Binary’s Mobile Site. I even created a script to parse our RSS feed to display the items using the iWebkit. Let me know if anyone is interested and I can post the script on the site.

So if you are looking for a way to create a mobile website, forget about using those mobilizers online which don’t give you too much flexibility. Sure, this might have a steeper learning curve but it only takes a few minutes to learn how to use. So give it a try. If you have any questions feel free to post them below.
