Cuil – Google FINALLY gets a rival?

What happens when you get three ex senior Googlers? Cuil. According to its website, their search engine boasts 3x the amount of content than Google and 10x the amount on Yahoo. While checking it out, I was a little enticed. The “darker” theme for searching was neat and the way results are shown are something worth checking out. – Source

It still seems it doesn’t have ALL the sites on the internet. A search for Talk Binary…doesn’t show my site. I’m ranked #3 on Google, and #1 on Yahoo for that same keyword but not on this new search engine? Many websites are complaining the results aren’t too relative to the keywords so you shouldn’t bother with it right now. Maybe in the future?

Google and the world

Many people are hating how Google is taking over the internet. It recently purchased YouTube. Big deal? Well, the ads that backed up YouTube financially is owned by Google. They recently tried purchasing Digg. They also opened up Knol, an attack on wikipedia allowing users to generate cold hard cash from their articles. They’ve made Picasa which is an image editing program, and so much more…

Is Cuil one of the few trying to compete directly with Google? Is it going to get pwned in the process? Tell us what you think!

  1. I think it’s the internet bubble 3.0
A lot of hot air and nothing to show but a slow, limited and horribly incorrect spam ridden search engine.
I doubt anybody over at Google is losing any sleep over this.

    XIIIs last blog post..Amiga nostalgia

  2. II was impressed at first but dissapointed soon after. Probably not returning ever again to that search engine in awhile. Google is easy and efficient.

With their new “digg” like system supposed to show up soon, let’s see how much Google will change the game.

  3. Hey I heard of this. I think I saw it on Google reader on some feed I recieve. I wen to the site and searched Talk Binary, unfortunately we don’t even come up on the 3rd or 4th page. Although this site has a really unique way of showing its search results, I think it’s still a very young search engine.
