In Computer Science algorithms play a big role in this discipline. What is an algorithm? Simplest way to put is, it’s a series of steps in order to solve a problem. Doesn’t necessarily have to be the most efficiently but thats what all computer scientists strive for, efficiency in order to solve problems within a feasible time frame.

Sometimes, for professors to get students understand the basics of come complex algorithms, we are presented with simple games in order to be able to understand why efficiency plays a big role. In other words, it might take us a long time to solve it once, but after that, it might take us a significantly shorter amount of time. (Or do they do this merely to help our ego?)

Duke Nukem trailer is simply phenomenal

How long have we been waiting for a new Duke Nukem game? For over a decade that’s what! Now guess what they are giving us today? A trailer! But wait…Is this really it? Watch it to find out! Fans over at Joystiq attack humorously at this video and same goes for the GameTrailer’s website! Check it out!

So is this it? We’ve been waiting over a decade and we simply get logos, a picture of Duke, some people wearing masks and that’s it? Wow! That all can be done in PowerPoint! =X Total stab in the heart by Apogee and 3D Realms! Maybe ten years ago this would be accepted but not now!

Even so, I can’t wait to play this game as the previous iteration of the game were classic! If you haven’t played them, shame on you! Go do so now!

Looking for a free alternative for Guitar Hero for your PC? Check out Frets on Fire! Apparently you have to strap your keyboard, fret with the F1-F5 keys, and strum with Enter! Sounds fun? It’s worth a try for all those fans. Below is a video.

Game only comes available with three songs but you may import songs from Guitar Hero, download songs you may find online, or make your own! You can also connect a guitar from Guitar Hero, download the appropriate drivers and you are ready to rock! Below are more screen shots from the site itself.
