Specs on PS3 Eye-Toy on PC

What are the specs on this webcam?

- 4 channel audio input:16 bits/channel, 48kHz, SNR 90db
- 56º or 75º Field of View zoom lens
- 2.1 F-stop, <1% distortion, fixed focus (25cm to 8 at 75º FOV)
- 640 x 480 at 60 frames/second
- 320 x 240 at 120 frames/second
- USB.0 high-speed data transfer
- Uncompressed video or optional JPEG compression

Tell me how it went

Tell me how it went. I currently bought an EyeToy for the PS3 for $25 including shipping on eBay but haven’t tried it extensively. I simply got to see the feed of the camera through their program but haven’t been able to use the camera through Skype or MSN yet. Either way it looks very promising!

Using your PS3 Controller on your PC

It’s recommended to have Windows XP or higher. It’s also been able to be used on a Mac via Boot Camp.

1. First of all download the driver and install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe).

2. Unpack the ps3sixasis_en.

3. Plug the SIXASIS to your PC via the USB charging cable provided with your PS3.

4. Run ps3sixasis_en.exe once.

5. Push the PS button the SIXAXIS once if your computer doesn’t recognize it.

FAQ

1. How do I know its working?
Simply go to Windows -> Control Panel -> Joysticks. It should be labeled as a joystick.

2. The lights are flashing!
Don’t worry, simply check to see if its recognized and if it works. It worked fine for me even though the lights were flashing. I tested it out using SNES9x and DualShock 3 with no problem.

PlayOn!

Simply sign up for the beta, it is open to everyone. I received an invitation within two days. I then installed the software, ran it on my pc, and seconds after I had PlayOn! capabilities on my XMB within my PS3.

Videos take about 10 seconds to load but after that, I had video up and running. Quality is same found on the websites so don’t expect HD quality. You get what you paid for! I mean, you did pay a lot for it…(it’s free).

With Netflix support coming soon, this application looks very promising. So what are you waiting for?

As Diego mentioned in an earlier post, I (Andy) will start posting on Talk Binary and after a small crash course on how to post, here is my very first post for everyone to enjoy. This is a quick and easy video tutorial on how to setup Yellow Dog Linux on your Play Station 3. This tutorial assumes you have experience installing a Linux operating system. I do not go over the install process but simply teach you how to get there. Enjoy, and feel free to post comments or ask questions in our forums.

Check List

1. Yellow Dog Linux Image: Terra Soft Download Section

2. A blank DVD to Burn the image.

3. Some Sort of External Media to Back-up Game Saves, Music, Pics, and Vids.

Once you see this on your screen:

What now?

I was always a fan of the Final Fantasy series, especially Tactics and VII, Front Mission, Grand Turismo, Tony Hawk, Fifa, and recently enjoyed Rock Band and waiting for the new “Guitar, Mic, Drummer Hero” ( err I meant Guitar Hero? coming out 10/27/08). So I’ll probably be looking into those.

So far I’ve managed to connect, and download the updates, and it’s installing so in a couple of minutes I should be playing! Don’t yet have an HDTV but am planning on buying one soon to take out its potential.

Don’t worry, I’ll still be sticking around! I plan to keep a steady post per day basis on this site as its had terrific user interaction!
